Savage Worlds Miscellaneous
Miscallaneous
The Savage Worlds ruleset provides a lot of automation and functionalities which may not be obvious at first.
A few of them are:
Holding down CTRL
A lot of functionality can be used when holding down CTRL on the keyboard.
Examples:
This is an incomplete list:
Character Sheet: The "Shaken/Incapacitated" toggles turn into buttons. Using them triggers a roll to unshake or on the injury table.
Combat Tracker: The "Apply" button of an attack turns into "Soak". Clicking it spends a Benny, rolls to soak the damage and enters the result on the CT.
Dragging and Dropping Bennies
Spending Bennies is an essential feature of Savage Worlds and the ruleset is set up to make the process as easy as possible. Most Benny uses are automated by simple drag & drop.
If you drag the Benny, the ruleset marks where you can drop it. This includes:
Dropping it onto a Trait to indicate a reroll. This also works for Damage.
Dropping it onto a character's "Shaken" status to indicate you spend it to get un-shaken. This works both on the Combat Tracker and the character sheet!
Dropping it onto the last attack in the Combat Tracker to indicate a Soak roll. This is important if the GM wants to spend one of their own Bennies to soak - holding down CTRL and clicking the "Soak" button will always attempt to use the NPC's Bennies.
Dropping it onto a character's card in the Combat Tracker to draw a new action card.
Dropping it on an Arcane Background to regain 5 Power Points.
The /roll
command
A number of rolls can be done straight from the chat window. The list can be accessed by typing /help
in the chat:
/roll evasion | fatigue | fear | naturalhealing | bleedingout | knockout | [Attribute] | [Skill]
Players will always roll as their PC. The GM will always roll as the PC or NPC currently active on the Combat Tracker. This is especially useful when the character in question has an edge affecting the result!
Examples:
/roll evasion
-- Rolls evasion./roll Fighting +2
-- Rolls Fighting, modified by a +2 modifier./roll natural healing
-- Rolls Natural Healing. If the character has the Fast Healer edge, the Bonus is automatically applied./roll NaturalHealing
-- Rolls Natural Healing, same as above. Capitalization and spaces are totally irrelevant.
Attack Info (Items and Powers)
On the Character Sheet, the link icon (a little dragon if unchanged by a theme) always opens the item/power belonging to the attack. To edit the Attack info itself (for example, to edit the required skill) one needs to right-click and choose "Attack info".
This allows to do some changes not possible on the item itself. For example, by right-clicking "Type" and replacing "Melee" with "Electronics", the "Electronics" skill will be used to roll the attack.
