Registering A New Fantasy Grounds Account
Before downloading and installing the Fantasy Grounds VTT software, you’ll want to register an account. This account will be used during the software installation as well as when logging into the app, using our forums, ordering items and seeing your order history, and more.
How to Register
From the Website Login Menu
From the main page of fantasygrounds.com, you can always find the Register New User Account button on the dropdown menu in the upper-right of the page under the Login button.
Scroll down to the Registration Page Form section to continue.
From The Website Rotating Banner
You may see a SIGN IN / REGISTER button on one of the rotating banners at the top of the fantasygrounds.com website.
This will take you to the default Log In page. From here, click the link at the bottom of the box that reads Don’t have an account yet? This link will take you to the Registration Page.
Scroll down to the Registration Page Form section to continue.
While Installing the Software
If you are in the process of installing the Fantasy Grounds VTT software, you will be prompted with the login screen during the installation wizard. From this screen, click on the link that reads Click Here To Create One Now (underlined below).
Registration Page Form
Any of the avenues above will take you to the REGISTRATION page.
Here, you will begin by entering your date of birth using the dropdown menus and typing in the year in the Year field. When done, click the PROCEED… button.
From here, you will enter necessary information to create your Fantasy Grounds account. All fields in the REQUIRED INFORMATION section must be completed. The ADDITIONAL INFORMATION fields are optional and can be left as default, though you will probably want to set your local time zone.
User Name
User names must be a minimum of 3 characters and a maximum of 25 characters. Spaces and certain special characters. We recommend using only alphanumeric characters if possible.
NOTE: Fantasy Grounds account user names are case-sensitive.
ie. DragonSlayer is not the same as dragonslayer.
Be sure to enter your user name as you would like it to appear in the forums, in the list of players, etc.
Once created, you cannot change your user name from within your account settings as you might a password or email address. You can, however, contact us via Customer Support and we would be happy to help.
Password
Here you will enter your desired password. Confirm the same password in the second field.
NOTE: Fantasy Grounds account passwords are case-sensitive. If you need to change your password once created, you can use the following link:
Email Address
Here you will enter a valid email address. This must be a working email address that you have access to as all notifications, purchase confirmations, and account information use this email address.
NOTE: Email addresses with a plus ( + ) sign in them will cause an error when registering. It may claim that the email address is already in use or has been banned, even though it has never been used before.
We understand that some people prefer to have bespoke email addresses for each service they use by adding an identifier and a +, which might be something like fgvtt+myemail@email.com, but our system will cannot parse email addresses with a plus sign in them.
If you prefer to use a bespoke email address, please use dashes ( - ) or periods ( . ).
Random Question
Here, you will answer a short question to prove you are not a robot spammer. Please spell out the answer in English.
The question in this prompt will change from time to time and may not appear as it does in the screenshot above.
NOTE: If you answer incorrectly or make a mistake, refresh the page using Shift-F5, not Back, as using Back will cause the form to still submitted with the previous incorrect answer even if the field appears empty or retyped into.
Time Zone
Here you will use the dropdown menu to locate your local time zone. All timestamps displayed on the forums and elsewhere can be automatically corrected to show the correct time for your location in the world.
DST Correction Option
Here you will adjust for Daylight Savings Time. By default, it can automatically adjust the time for Daylight Savings Time, or you can change it to Always On or Always Off.
Receive Email
From time to time, the administrators and/or other members may want to send you email notifications or messages. If you do not want to receive email from certain people, then you may disable the options here.
Site Rules
Here, you can read the brief site rules, using the scrollbar at the right of the box. Once you’ve read them, please click the box to confirm that you have read and agree to the information and site rules.
Complete Registration
Once you’ve filled out the form, it might look something like the screenshot above. Once satisfied that all options are correct and how you would like them, click the COMPLETE REGISTRATION button at the bottom. Once clicked, you will be taken to the YOU ARE REGISTERED screen.
Account Created
Once you have completed the registration process, you should see the image above with your new user name in the first sentence.
Account Activation via Email
From here, you will need to activate your account. This uses the email address you entered during registration to send a link via email that you can simply click to validate your new account. This process is a safeguard against mass account creation via spam or bot networks.
The subject of the email should be something like Action Required to Activate Membership for Fantasy Grounds Forums. If you do not receive this email in a timely manner, please check your spam or trash folder. If there is no email there, you can contact Customer Support to activate your new account.
Registration Complete
Once the URL in the activation email has been clicked or pasted into a browser, you will be sent to a page with the confirmation shown above and the registration process is complete.
You may now proceed to edit your Profile in order to fill in additional personal details about yourself, or you could modify your Options to customize your browsing experience of this site. If you would rather do these things later, you can do so by following the links around the site to your Profile.
Alternatively, you can simply go back to the Forums and start posting in threads.
