1. From within the Steam Store page, click in the Search box in the upper right and type Fantasy Grounds VTT

2. Once located, click the Fantasy Grounds VTT box.

3. On the Fantasy Grounds VTT page, scroll down and click the Download Mac Demo button to download and begin the install process.

6. Navigate to your Steam Library and location Fantasy Grounds VTT Demo, then click Play.

   If a license key was detected from an earlier purchase of Fantasy Grounds VTT, a window may pop up prompting you to write down or copy your license key.
   ✅ We recommend recording this license key for later in the installation process.

7. The Install package will load and select basic install parameters. Click Continue

8. Click Install to continue

9. The installer may ask for permissions to complete the installation

10. Take a moment to read the Next Steps and click Close when ready.

    NOTE: There is currently an issue with macOS Big Sur 11.0.x that

    affects

    may affect our installer.
    If you are installing in macOS Big Sur, and encounter the issue where FGU can’t find FGUpdaterEgine or start the Updater, please follow the temporary workaround

    below

    listed here, then continue on from Step 6 below:

    -

    • open Finder or Spotlight or Terminal and navigate to : /Applications/SmiteWorks/Fantasy Grounds/FGUpdaterEngine

    -

    • launch the FGUpdaterEngine.app found in that folder

    -

    • the .app will run through an update and close

    -

    • you can now navigate to : /Applications/SmiteWorks/Fantasy Grounds/ and launch FantasyGroundsUpdater.app

    -

    • continue installation from Step 6 below

11. Navigate to your Steam Library and location Fantasy Grounds VTT Demo, then click Play.

    The Fantasy Grounds setup will run automatically (except on Big Sur).

12. After installation is complete, the FGUpdateEngine will run to guide you through setting up file locations, username and password verification as well as license key entry.

13. Choose a path where your data files will be stored. This will require the most storage space for modules, maps, extensions, etc. so make sure this location will have ample space.
    
    Click the “Check Directory” button to make sure the installer has the proper permissions to create the directory.
    

    

14. Type in your username and password, then click the Log In button. Once your login credentials are validated, you will see a “Login Successful” message. Click Continue to go to the License Key screen.
    
    Note: If you don’t yet have an account, you can click the Click Here To Create One
    
    Now link above the username box to create an account. Your Fantasy Grounds forum account is what you use to log in.
    
    NOTE: Fantasy Grounds account usernames are case-sensitive. Be sure to enter your username into Fantasy Grounds exactly as it appears in the forums.
    ie. DragonSlayer is not the same as dragonslayer.
    

    

15. If you have a license key, enter or paste it into the box and click Continue.
    If you do not have a license key and wish to Demo the software, just click Continue without entering a key.
    

    

16. Once these steps are completed, click Update to run the latest update. The Updater will install the latest version of Fantasy Grounds VTT, including modules and any purchased products you have from Steam or from the Fantasy Grounds VTT website.
